Project: Eastlake Rowhouses

Neighborhood: Eastlake

Status: Completed in 2014

Building Type: Rowhouses

# Units: 6

Eastlake Rowhouses propose a bold and modern interpretation of the traditional housing typology.  Large front yards and shared stoops provide opportunities for neighbor interaction.  A two-story volume of painted cement board panels rests on a base of vertical wood.  Large windows and doors add pattern and rhythm to both elements.  Individual homes are identified through interruptions in the pattern.  These contrasting moments complement the larger elements with variation in glazing and color.  Decks along the main facade provide opportunities for further interaction while contributing to the overall rhythm of the design.  A single stair penthouse provides a strong expression at the structure's corner and allows all homes to take advantage of the incredible views to Lake Union and beyond.  Double and triple-height spaces draw natural light deep into the interior and create open and dynamic living spaces.
