central remodel

We purchased a 1904, 4-square, 2-story house in August 2008.  Our desire to preserve the home for the future led to a modern and green redesign of the 1970’s kitchen and bath and an update of the heating system, windows, insulation and roof.

The old furnace and hot water heaters were removed.  A high-efficiency hot water heater supplies domestic hot water and heat for the new wall mounted European-styleradiators.  Solar preheat is planned next.

Cotton denim insulation and new windows were installed as part of the kitchen and bath redesign.  We reused wood framing in the utility room and brick removed from the chimney and fireplace for patios.  The original fir floor was restored after years of being buried under linoleum.  Natural OSMO finishes are used throughout along with local Paperstone countertops, cork flooring and a dual flush toilet.
