urban walk
The project consists of four buildings organized around a wandering boardwalk that connects all eight homes, the public street and the alley parking. Individual homes are designed to be flexible with open floor plans at all levels. The ground floor space extends beyond large sliding glass doors to a private patio that connects to the common walk, which also widens to fill the outdoor volumes between buildings. The second floor contains a guest space and multipurpose room with a master suite at the third floor. An opening between the first and second floors creates a vertical space adjacent to the large glass doors. Oriented primarily north/south, the common boardwalk receives lots of natural light occasionally changing direction between the buildings, creating a diagonal movement through the site.
